29,000-square-foot Armory, Bids Starting at $75,000

Yeah, this oughta be big enough. A Richardsonian Romanesque-style armory, built in 1899, up for auction in Whitehall, N.Y. (In the Adirondacks, a little more northerly than our usual territory). Per the NYS Gov’s website: “The building consists of 29,000 square feet situated on 2.8 acres of land. For over 100 years, the Whitehall armory housed the New York Army National Guard. In 2009, the guard unit moved operations to a new armory constructed in Queensbury, and the property was declared surplus by New York State.” You can download a marketing package about it here. Auction date is September 10th. See you there!

  1. Wow! This is a great deal but what would you use it for? A School? A Concert Hall?
A Shelter? A Rehab Center? Most likely a storage facility.

    • I think it should be bought collectively and used as an artists’ space/workspace. It would be great for studios.
