New York Magazine on Countering Crime In Newburgh

Newburgh’s war on crime is the focus of an article in this week’s New York magazine. Newburgh, with its amazing stock of historical homes and enviable Hudson River location, has sadly long been a victim of failed urban renewal plans, de-industrialization, and the exporting of crime out of New York City to farther flung and less moneyed locations. It also gets a lot of bad press, though this piece does emphasize that recent anti-gang efforts are making noticeable improvements. (Newburgh hasn’t had a gang-related murder all year.)

Our Newburgh correspondent Cher Vick has made promoting Newburgh’s brighter possibilities her mission on her popular blog Newburgh Restoration. We’ll be interested to hear what she has to say about this one.
